Fjokk

1. Ornament tal-fidda li jitqiegħed fuq il-lampier ta’ quddiem is-sagrament. 2. Il-qala’ ż-żgħir ta’ quddiem ta’ bastiment jew dgħajsa; ġibb. Idj:  ‘Ippreparalu ikla bil-fjokki’ – ikla ta’ kwalità mill-aqwa;  xi ħaġa magħmula biex tkompli ssebbaħ oġġett jew servizz. L-enfasi superlattiv jidher ukoll b’mod ironiku b’mod negattiv, eż. ‘Laqqat riħ bil-fjokki’. Tal. coi fiocchi – M. xi ħaġa mill-aqwa, bil-ġmiemen. Tal. fiocchi – M. ċoff jew tajjara żgħira li tintuża biex timsaħ l-għaraq.

Flabell

Flabellum (plural flabella), in Christian liturgical use, is a fan made of metal, leather, silk, parchment or feathers, intended to keep away insects from the consecrated Body and Blood of Christ and from the priest, as well as to show honour.
